It gave Matt Saracen a PROPER send off instead of that horrible, disjointed previous episode, which made little sense. Maybe the DirecTV version (which is slightly longer) made more sense.
It also allowed Landry some redemption. He didn't have an easy season of it and deserved some glory.
As for Tyra and Riggins, I thought I'd read very recently on IMDb that both had signed to return to FNL. At what capacity ('guest stars' like Zach Gilford this season?), I don't know. Good point though, that it would have been prime to slip in a guest appearance for Palicki.
I wish they'd been a bit neater in handling Riggins' brush with the law. Yes, I realize I can be picky about such things; but the story doesn't seem to indicate that the sheriff has much concrete evidence..
