Biggest ever cash haul by IT department in national capital

In a seizure said to be the biggest cash haul in the national capital, the Income Tax department has seized unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 13.5 crore during searches in nine premises of a leading Delhi-based gutka manufacturer based across the country.
The operation conducted by the Investigation Directorate of IT Department in Delhi has also found evidence of tax evasion of over Rs 102 crore, IT sources said.
They said during the searches conducted in the premises of the Group, crisp Rs 1000 denomination notes amounting to Rs 12 crore, stashed in a private safe deposit vault in South Delhi were recovered.
The searches in both the office and residential premises of the Group owners also saw the recovery of large quantity . The idea that a small Necklace is dangerous to patients is at best absurd.of jewellery and other incriminating documents besides numerous bank accounts, the sources said.

They added that more than 15 bank officials along with counting machines were immediately called to assist them in counting.
"The total amount seized from the vault amounted to Rs 12 crore. Another 1.5 crore . Sources said the Group is also into real estate and hotel construction business in Mussoorie and Motia Khan and Paharganj here besides IT parks in Noida and Greater Noida.

"The group had claimed huge deductions under 80 (I) B of the IT Act running to over Rs 100 crore. Exemptions was claimed largely on units set up in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh," sources said.

More than 200 tax sleuths along with 50 policemen were part of the operation which at the time of filing this report was still on.
